The Art of Total War!

Posted February 21st, 2008 by Amirsan in

A battlefield littered with hewn corpses, spears splinted, shield shivered; the earth red run with blood. Your army fleeing for it's life, scattering weapons and armour in it's wake as the pursuing cavalry ride over them. You general's headless corpse lies broken and bloodied on the earth.

Rome: Total War - it is a yawning chasm of ancient warfare, and it can be too much for even the best of us to handle. Therefore, the kindly folks at the SCC Forums have picked their collective brains and gathered together every last scrap of advice their combined brilliance can muster. Need help against those pesky elephants who are stomping all over your beautiful legions? Having trouble against hordes of hairy barabarians? Or if you're simply not very good (join the club...); the SCC Rome: Art of War has the answer! Probably.

SCC is proud to announce this massive strategy article 'The Art of Total War' for Rome Total War.  Consisting of three years of accumulated tips and strategies, the Art of Total War is a compilation of 178 tips and strategies posted by SCC Community members in the forum thread ranging from siege tactics to economic management.  It was impressively compiled and organized by the amazing Spartacus the Slightly Bemused, our chief SCC Scribe, as well as edited by the dedicated member Penguinraider.

It's a great article, I hope you guys enjoy the work that the community has impressively put together.  Check it out here!

Classic Greek Nation Profile article restored

Posted February 15th, 2008 by Amirsan in

Back in the summer of 2004, when SCC first began, we had an awesome member who called himself Spawn847.  He has long since come and gone, but this article which I have recovered (as well as his many wargames and posts) remain.  Here is a classic SCC article which was quite popular when it was first published on the Greek nation in Rome Total War.  Check it out in our Strategies Section!

Never Ending Stories

Posted February 10th, 2008 by macarthur

Like to run nations? Like to wage war? Perhaps you are an expert diplomat that finds ways to peace than war, or an industrialist who would rather stay out of major wars?

The options of gameplay are endless in this game. You are free to do anything your heart wishes to do. Never Ending Stories, or NES for short, basically places you in command of a nation in the modern or ancient world and see you grow your nation into an economic powerhouse or if you are skilled enough you can join the few immortals who have actually conquered the world.

Just sign up to our forums and find the NES section and join one. As we have now running are, Live in Rome where you can create a person that does tasks in the city or Empire of Rome. You can be anything from a lowly slave to the Emperor.

Another still running if even slightly dead, is 1066 NES, this NES needs more players to keep it alive. In this game you control a medieval nation and attempt to expand your borders, wage war against the heathens or Christians. But remember the Pope as he may reward you if you do well.

Finally a new one just founded is called, Lords and Kings, this NES is also another of mine in which you are a Lord attempting to rebuild a war torn Anglio for your King. You could rise up and usurp the King and name yourself King if you wished.

To learn more about these NES and who and how they are run, check them out on the forums. Hope to see you there!

More pages restored and Historical Battles Strategy

Posted February 3rd, 2008 by Amirsan in

Rome Total War cheats and reviews pages has been restored with the correct information.  Also, I have added the popular Maximum PC article.  It was written by a former and highly respected staff member Fatsheep and it guides you step by step to make your PC optimized for Rome Total War.

Also, I have added yet another classic SCC article, published in the very first days of SCC (around July 2004) by Hannibal Barca.  It is the Historical Battles Strategy.  He walks though each historical battle in the game, providing us with key strategies and tactics to win them.

Check them out!

More articles and pages restored

Posted February 2nd, 2008 by Amirsan in

Today I have restored another classic SCC Rome Total War strategy article and a few pages.  The strategy article is titled "Bleed them Dry" which was originally written by Tamur and published first in SCC over two years ago.  An excerpt:

"Most of us have seen the Senate's description of a faction who is currently neutral to the Senate. A curious phrase in that description says that the faction should be "bled dry" before attacking. A curious reference, and one the Senate never quite explains. Ever thought about how to do this? It's a challenge, but a great diplomatic coup that can be a source of endless amusement back at your capital. It can also strengthen your faction's standing in the world a great deal."

Check this article out here.  Check out the rest of the strategy section (which is still being restored) here.

I have also restored the old RTW Factions page and our Contact page.  Please do not hesitate to send us any of your comments, suggestions, thoughts or musings.  I have also enabled comments in the articles for visitors.

I'm back! Time to get things rolling again.

Posted January 29th, 2008 by Amirsan

Hello everyone! Ah, after months of testing I can now confidently say that most of my college test-takes are over. With some free time now, I am confident we can get SCC rolling again, especially after our recent restructuring. Most of the articles and webpages that used to be on the site are not yet up again, but I am continuing now to retrieve them from the old MySQL database and reformatting them for the new site.

But old articles isn't just it. We have a few surprises we will be presenting in the following days and you probably know them if you are a regular visitor of our forums. After 600 votes in our poll I am committed to providing more articles and features for SCC.

And I can use your help too! I have posted a thread of this and next month's weekly agenda. I hope that all visitors would join the forum and participate in the thread and make known what you want to see changed or improved on SCC.

Stay tuned for more to come!

Few more articles restored: How to Use Generals and Taking Tough Towns

Posted November 28th, 2007 by Amirsan in

I have just restored two new strategy articles from the old site.  Like Barbarians: The Fear Tactic, these two articles are SCC classics; they have been part of the site since 2004 when the site started off and Rome: Total War was just released.

Taking Tough Towns embeds Sun Tzu wisdom with real tactical and strategic descriptions of how to conquer those towns that seem impenetrable.  How to Use Generals is a shorter strategy article, but valuable for the beginner who has not yet grasped the value and importance of the general in their army.

I hope you guys enjoy the articles (if you have not read them yet).  More is surely to come!
