Rome: Total War - Overview

Talk about RTW on the forums!

Did you ever imagine that there would be a day where you can live it all over again? Well, today is that day, for the rise and fall of a great empire is at your very fingertips.

Rome: Total War is the latest installation to a successful, award-winning Total War Series which has swept the strategy game industry and stepped up the standards for all strategy games to come.  Equipped with a new 3D engine, innovative gameplay and a whole new campaign map whose complexity and sophistication rivals even that of the Civilization Series, Rome: Total War has made a great dent in the history of strategy games.

The game begins from 270BC and ends around 14 AD, during which the Romans have conquered much of the Mediterranean and has established a great republic which lasted for centuries. You will be able to recreate this epic history as you take the role as the leader of a powerful Roman family. The game is dynamic and rich with strategy, with politics, diplomacy, conflict, treachery and glorious rewards as you work harder and harder to become the Imperater of Rome and its empire.

How does it work?  The game structure is based on the traditional Total War series.  There are two modes; the campaign mode, and the battle mode.  In the campaign mode is where you manage your empire as you oversee a map of Europe.  Here you can manage your cities, build new armies, and engage in diplomatic dialogue with enemies and allies.

Once you have built an army in the campaign mode, it’s time to fight off some enemies!  When your army is attacked, or when you order your army to attack another, you are taken to a new interface where you will fight the battle.  This is the 3D battle mode.  You now control your troops in a 3D battlefield where you must crush your opponent.  When the battle is over you are then taken back to the campaign mode to continue to run your empire.

There is so much more to this game to fit on this one page. Be sure to check out the numerous other pages we have to inform you from top to bottom what Rome: Total War really is all about.
